West Virginia is comprised of three main wetland types. These include emergent wetlands, shrub wetlands, and forested wetlands. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates 57,000 to 102,000 acres of wetlands in West Virginia. This is less than 1% of the states land surface area. It is for this reason that wetlands are uncommon throughout West Virginia. This does not imply that the states wetlands are not important. They provide fish and wildlife habitat, improve water quality, and store water during flood events. We are experienced in making preliminary jurisdictional determinations of wetland boundaries. Recently we have received wetland delineation certification through Ohio State University's Wetland Program.
Our services include the following:
Preliminary Jurisdictional Determinations
Dominant Plant Species Calculations
Hydrophytic Vegetation Identification
FAC Neutral Tests
